Student health insurance cost
Students in Germany usually take statutory health insurance at the student rate. From 1 January 2026 the Techniker Krankenkasse (a statutory insurer) charges €141.16 a month up to age 23 and €146.29 from 23 (no children). Other statutory insurers differ slightly. The student rate ends at the latest with the semester in which you turn 30. For the visa you also need travel health insurance from your travel date until your German insurance starts; no official price exists for it, so enter your quote.
Rates are one insurer’s official figures (TK, without children); your insurer’s extra contribution may differ. Over 30, or after the student rate ends, you need a different rate: ask a statutory insurer.
